Nearly 100 people were on hand May 8 to see local historic-preservation efforts lauded at the second annual Founders' Heritage Event.
The social evening and awards ceremony took place in the former Village Board chambers on the second floor of the office building at Lockport and Des Plaines streets in downtown Plainfield. The gathering was scheduled to fall in line with National Preservation Week and this year's theme, which was "Cities, Suburbs and Countryside."
The inaugural Founders' Heritage Event took place in November, but the program's sponsors -- MainStreet Plainfield, the Plainfield Historical Society and the Village Preservation Association -- agreed at the time to move the ...
