Article: Lincoln-Way East uses big plays for first win of the football season

Rob Zvonar has seen a lot of big plays so far this season. But the Lincoln-Way East coach has a problem with that. He says too many of those big plays are still being made by the opposing team. However, the ratio of big plays for East compared with its opponent took a turn for the better last week as the Griffins defeated Carl Sandburg 33-14 in Orland Park.

"We gave up some big plays on defense, and on offense we were sloppy at times. We can't give up a fumble and an interception. We could have put the game away in the third quarter, but we didn't make the big plays then," Zvonar said.

Despite those shortcomings, Zvonar saw improvement Friday over earlier losses to Maine South and St. Rita.
