The DuPage County Health Department recommends flu shots for residents most at risk of developing serious complications from influenza and for people who simply want to lower their chances of getting the flu.
Though lagging in previous flu seasons, the state's vaccine supply is good this year, said health department spokesman David Hass. DuPage County will receive 10,000 doses of vaccine for the 2003-04 flu season.
Leland Lewis, executive director of the health department, said people should schedule vaccinations as soon as possible because it takes about two weeks after the shot for immunity to develop.
