Article: Locals say health care needs a checkup

Good health care is vital to a good standard of living. But an increasingly large number of people

in Lake County believe the current health care system isn't working properly.

Young and old, a variety of area residents in a random survey voiced complaints about recent health care trends. Some questioned the industry's ultimate motivation.

Mari Knobeloch, 17, of Round Lake Heights, is studying to be paramedic.

"I take EMT courses and we have to deal with Health Maintenance Organizations all the time," Knobeloch said. "I think they are getting a tad bit ridiculous."

She said increased meddling results in decreased service when patients need it most.
