Lake Michigan water will be flowing out of Plainfield pipes by the end of April.
Starting Tuesday, about 25 percent of the village's water will be lake water. The amount of lake water in the supply will gradually increase until it reaches 100 percent, most likely by April 27, said Allen Persons, director of public works.
"(Customers) will notice a difference in the quality of the water. The water will be a lot softer," Persons said. "Generally, people like the taste of the lake water better than the well water."
The 12,000-foot, 20-inch lake water pipeline comes from Essington Road in Bolingbrook down 127th Street near the Farmstone Ridge subdivision. From there, the water is piped down a ...
