Article: Buffalo's `Sylvia': done to death, but very well done

I am a very big fan of the play Sylvia but I hope I won't have to sit through it again for a long, long time. A. R. Gurney's script is one of the most imaginative to have graced the stage in many a year, but the high calibre of the writing (as well as its small cast and simple staging requirements) has inspired theaters everywhere to produce it. Indeed, almost every theater I have attended as a reviewer has done a production of Sylvia, and, honestly, I'm getting just a little tired of it.
I mention this because it was part of the baggage I took with me to the Buffalo Theatre Ensemble, the latest company to give Sylvia a try. In short, I was ready to hate this show from the get-go. So, it is ...
