Article: John Wayne stamp keeps legend alive

For all you John Wayne fans, there's a new stamp hitting post offices nationwide on Friday. It's the 37-cent Duke stamp. As one of the "Legends of Hollywood" series, the new John Wayne stamp portrays the legendary cowboy star from his 1962 movie "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance." Artist Drew Struzan based the painting for the stamp upon a black and white publicity photograph from the movie. That's the film in which the Duke as rancher Tom Doniphon saved the life of a young lawyer (Jimmy Stewart) by killing the bad guy (Lee Marvin).

The new stamp is being dedicated today in a special ceremony at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

This is the second postal stamp with John Wayne's mug. ...
