The pre-Civil War Kettering Mansion in Lemont Township has become an orphan in the ranks of historic buildings that several people would like to adopt, but few have options. The building is owned by Montalbano Builders, which plans to construct a housing development of 251 homes in the area. The property, on Parker Road just north of 143rd Street, was once called Willow Lane Farm. The mansion stands at the end of a long drive lined by willow trees.
