With the football hiding on his hip, Wilmington High School senior Tanner Roark dropped back dangerously into play-action mode.
Out of the jumbo double-wing formation, senior fullback Marc Harrison kicked his heels before the snap and senior wingback Tony Vercelli appeared just as ready, providing Roark the airtightest pocket to actually air it out.
On the first play of the second half, Roark sailed a 56-yard touchdown pass to senior tight end Adam Kruchten that took on the impact of a grand-slam home run in erasing a 4-0 halftime deficit. It also brought back to life the Wildcats' offense by borrowing the hit-the-ice mentality of a Blackhawks slogan.
Remember the roar?
Remember the Roark.
