Article: No human cases of West Nile in '04

Here's something to be thankful for -- there were no human cases of West Nile virus reported this year in Lake County. After getting clobbered in 2002, when Lake County saw eight confirmed cases and one death attributed to the disease, the number of human cases dwindled to one last year and zero for 2004.

Dr. Victor Plotkin, an epidemiologist with the Lake County Health Department, said that while Lake County saw no confirmed human cases of West Nile this year, human cases of the disease were up slightly from last year on a statewide basis.
