Dr. Wallace -- You told your readers that, "A GED diploma is accepted the same as a regular high school diploma." This concerns me because while in theory a general education degree is supposed to be equal to a high school diploma, the sad fact is, it is not. You do the teens who read your column a grave disservice by allowing them to believe this.
I dropped out of high school in the 12th grade. I took the test for, and received, my GED, after waiting the required time following withdrawal. The sad facts are that, unless you add a college degree to the GED, it is a stigma that you are a dropout and a quitter and therefore a ...
