Breathe deep and count to 10 is the age-old advice often given in times of stress.
"There really is something to that old wives tale that our mothers and grandmothers told us," said Carol Weszely, a clinical psychologist at The Wellness Center in Valparaiso. "I tell everyone who is having stress, panic, anxiousness - and they don't know what to do - to hold still and breathe for three to five seconds before making a decision about anything."
