Dr. Wallace - My father drinks more than he should and I'm doing my best to get him to cut down on his alcohol intake or quit altogether. Yesterday, I got upset with him and called him a drug addict. He really got mad and told me that calling him a drug addict was disrespectful and totally wrong.

It's true that alcohol is a drug. And it's true that my father is addicted to alcohol (at least he drinks too much), so therefore he is addicted to drugs. Am I right? -Angie, Newark, N.J.
