The Indiana Historical Society is ready to officially recognize the Ideal Section of the Lincoln Highway here, a 1.5-mile strip of a 3,000-mile pioneer highway that was built to standards 30 years ahead of its time.
The society's Marker Advisory Committee has recommended approval of the highway marker applications, Glen L. Eberly of the Dyer Historical Society and Art Schweitzer of the Schererville Historical Society were informed this week by the committee chairwoman, Judy A. Rippel.
