Lake County Superior Court Judge-elect Julie Cantrell is promising to divorce her court from the county-run alcohol-counseling service.
"The Lake County Alcohol and Drug Offender Service isn't helping people with the alcohol part of the problem," Cantrell said.
"They are showing high school defensive-driving movies and telling people it's OK to drink as long as you don't drive, plus it's too expensive.
"We are doing a study to assemble numbers from Tri-City, Anglican, Southlake and other programs. Even if the other two courts want to continue with LADOS, we would probably go out on our own," she said.
