I recall a publication once that claimed happiness was "A new bird watcher seeing their first or an experienced birder seeing their fiftieth." If that is true, there should be a lot of happiness around these parts this winter. It looks like this may be an irruption year for snowy owls. Easily half a dozen have been sighted on the Lake Michigan shore in Chicago, Whiting and Gary since last weekend.
