While some homeowners deal with the problems caused by raccoons, Crown Point veterinarian Anndrea Kapke says there are some common-sense things pet owners can to do ensure the safety of their dogs and cats during cold weather:
* DOGS: If you keep your dog outside, make sure it has plenty of food and water. Change the water frequently to prevent freezing. On extremely cold nights, dogs should be brought inside, or, if that's not possible, at least sheltered from the wind. Schedule shorter walks to avoid frostbite to your pet's ears and nose.
