Have you ever considered how many things that are passed on from generation to generation as basic truths are, in fact, not fact?
I've been disabused so many times, I've come to two related conclusions.
I must be one of the most gullible people ever to draw breath.
And the aging process, which is said to bring wisdom, gains more from the process of unlearning what is false than from learning what is true.
I'm not talking about such stuff as "a watched pot never boils," things that were never meant to be taken as truth but ...
