A South Haven man is being held in Porter County Jail without bond after breaking the finger of a Portage policeman in an incident at the American Legion here Saturday evening. Police were called to arrest Jon Richard Lowther, 28, who was intoxicated. Lowther, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Porter County police, resisted arrest. He was transported to Porter County jail.

Sgt. D. Thomas Meade was treated at the Medical Surgical Center of Porter Memorial Hospital in Portage and released.

Lowther's charges include public intoxication, resisting arrest and felony battery to a police ...
