A Kouts chiropractor has threatened a $300,000 lawsuit against Porter County over comments made by County Commissioner Jim Biggs.
A claim notice from Dr. Carl Valvo III, filed with the county late last week, asks for $300,000 for allegedly defamatory statements by Biggs.
The notice is the first step in a possible lawsuit. If the county refuses the claim or doesn't respond within 90 days, Valvo and his lawyers, William K. Hefron and Susan J. Moeller of Valparaiso, can sue the county.
Contacted Tuesday, Hefron declined to comment.
But Biggs said he has apologized publicly for the statements that offended Valvo.
