Owls have keen eyesight and excellent hearing. Their eyes are so large, they cannot move them. They move their entire heads instead.

OUTDOORS - BIRDS
If our eyes were as large in proportion to our bodies as an owl's, our heads would have to be the size of a wash tub to hold them.
Some birds see more clearly. Others can see farther away. But the light of a handful of stars is all an owl needs to be able to see.
Owls' eyes are constructed so as to gather as much light as possible. The light is then cast on an unusually large and sensitive retina to give a large, detailed image.
