The Rev. William Bass thinks the time is long overdue for Orthodox churches in the United States to unite.
"America is really a mess," said Bass, pastor of Protection of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Gary.
"Everywhere else one bishop rules an area. But here you have bishops with overlapping areas who rule along ethnic lines," he said.
