The Town of Merrillville lost in the latest volley of lawsuits over sewers. Town Council members were hoping to keep better track of the Merrillville Conservancy District by getting special notice of the conservancy's attempts to annex territory or change its master plan, but Lake Circuit Court Judge Lorenzo Arredondo said no way.

After a brief hearing Thursday morning, Arrendondo denied the town's request to be a party to the conservancy district's Circuit Court file, which contains territory and sewer changes approved by that court.
