Bernard S. Johnsen's Blue Top has kept the 1950s and 1960s alive as carhops on roller skates continue to serve fast food to people driving hot rods. Mr. Johnsen, whose eatery at 8801 Indianapolis Blvd. is one of the few surviving drive-in restaurants in Indiana, died Friday. He was 72.

Mr. Johnsen owned the drive-in's with his wife, Wanda. A son, Kent, has assumed more of the managerial responsibility in the past year after Mr. Johnsen's health declined.

He suffered from Parkinson's disease, according to another son, Bernard J. Johnsen, a St. John police captain and the town's former police chief.
