SUICIDE
Attention often focuses on a rising rate of teen-age suicide, but experts say older Americans are far more likely to kill themselves.
Depression, loneliness, social isolation, chronic illness and pain, fear of being institutionalized and loss of status and self-esteem are factors experts associate with suicide among older Americans.
White men have the highest suicide rate among Americans over 65; black women have the lowest rate.
