In his heyday, Broadus White Socks drew rave reviews from steer judges because of his tall, solid confirmation.
That was nearly 70 years ago, but this old Angus champion - now stuffed and a little shopworn - still is a credit to his breed, University of Illinois animal scientists say.
They are looking for just the right place to display White Socks.
"He would have been very competitive in today's shows," said Al Neumann, a retired UI animal scientist.
Neumann said White Socks' physical attributes earned him a grand championship in the 1923 International Livestock Exhibition in Chicago.
