Lake County's new computerized voting machines have been a hit with voters since their introduction in some precincts last year. They're a hit, too, with the men who move them - 52 pounds each as opposed to the 1,400-pound iron horses they replaced. And while the new machines cost more than $2 million, they're something of a hit with taxpayers, too.

The new machines are cheaper to transport to and from the county's 528 precincts, which will all use the new machines for the first time in November.
