The baking company whose name has become synonymous with white bread touted a study Monday that says the food that's helped raise generations isn't bad for you.
True, regular white doesn't have the fiber content of whole-grain breads, but it's an easy source of carbohydrates, which many people need more of, said Ruth Carpenter, who conducted the research for the Continental Baking Co., makers of Wonder bread.
Her eight-week study of 118 overweight, sedentary people aged 25 to 50 found that bread did not cause weight gain and improved the quality of the participants ...
