An assistant U.S. attorney has been named chief deputy for the Porter County prosecutor's office. Prosecutor James H. Douglas announced Gwenn R. Rinkenberger, 34, of Valparaiso as his chief, replacing Nancy Vaidik, who served outgoing Prosecutor Daniel R. Berning.
Rinkenberger has been employed in the criminal division of the U.S. attorney's Northern District of Indiana office in Hammond for more than four years, handling cases involving counterfeiting, arson, income tax evasion, mail fraud, child pornography and narcotics violations.
