The Town Council on Tuesday approved a tax abatement resolution allowing for future tax breaks for Panel Processing, a hardboard processing business hoping to build a new plant in the town's Southlake Industrial Park. Richard Anderson, an attorney representing the Alpena, Mich.-based business, said the 72,000-square-foot plant and offices will be built on 3.7 acres on the northwest corner of 93rd Avenue and Mississippi Street.

A remaining 3.8 acres could be used for future expansion.

Total employment, once the plant is completed, will number 180, with an average salary of $9.50 per hour, Anderson said.
