Associates of Gov. Evan Bayh are largely dismissing a poll released Tuesday by Indiana University that shows the first-term Democrat's popularity continues to slip.
"It's a mild diversion on a hot summer day," quipped Bayh spokesman Fred Nation, who said the poll's methodology and thus its results are flawed.
Indiana Democratic Party Chairman Michael Pannos said the university's poll, which shows a steady decline in Bayh's approval rating and an accompanying increase in his so-called "negatives," is inconsistent with surveys the party regularly does.
