There is a small but active group of youths in Hobart working to make life better for animals. They meet regularly to learn about responsible pet ownership and to raise funds for the Humane Society of Hobart Inc.

The organization is called PAWS, which stands for Pets Are Worth Saving and was formed in April 1987.

Linda McDowell, an adult who oversees the group, said there are 15 active members.
