The Dyer wing of the St. John Township Democratic precinct organization wants to pull out of the township group and form its own six-member group with an eye to expansion. The Dyer precinct committeemen earlier this week signed a letter to be sent to county party Chairman Robert A. Pastrick expressing their interest.

The committeemen notified Pastrick of their intent about two months ago. Pastrick, who has authority to approve the request, is out of town and couldn't be reached for comment.
