Fifteen-year-old Derek Herrold is one young man who, as the cliche goes, is really on the ball.
The son of Terry and Beverly Herrold of Portage, Derek will enter his sophomore year at Portage High School this fall.
But, unlike most sophomores, the tall, lean youngster has his future all mapped out.
Derek is a top-rated racquetball player, recently capturing gold medals in the White River Games in both the men's C and junior 14 and under divisions. He carries the No. 1 ranking in the state in the ...
