Echoes are still reverberating over the National Wildlife Federation's so-called June "advisory" on eating fish from Lake Michigan.
Always looking for sensational stories to boost ratings, TV gave prime- time exposure to the NWF scare story. Great Lakes anglers were stunned and confused by what they accepted as authentic information. The NWF advisory totally spurned fish consumption guidelines on various chemicals upon which Great Lakes states had agreed.
Actually, persistent chemicals in Lake Michigan have been consistently decreasing, tests reveal.
