Kingwood Hospital in Michigan City gave awards Friday to five companies and the U.S. Postal Service for what it called unparalleled programs that help their employees cope with alcohol, drug and other personal problems.
It was the first time that Kingwood Hospital, a private psychiatric hospital, recognized employee assistance programs that it said helped bring about a "turnaround to positive motivation and increased productivity."
"In terms of wellness, employee assistance programs have made real progress in increasing productivity and decreasing absenteeism," said Mary Lou Saxon, administrator of Kingwood Hospital. Such ...
