To expand available parking in downtown Highland, the town's Department of Public Works has started enlarging the public parking lot at the intersection of Kennedy and Highway avenues.
Assistant Town Engineer John Bach told the Town Board that the parking lot improvements on the former railroad right of way should be completed by the end of October. The $25,000 cost of the improvements is coming from the town's municipal cumulative capital development fund.
Town Trustee Ray Borowiec, D-1st, noted the parking lot improvements include doubling its capacity, developing islands for landscaping and installing lighting.
