The majority of made-for-television films are developed according to the three-step Problem of the Month Formula.
1. State the problem (15 minutes).
2. Wrestle with the problem (one hour, 40 minutes).
3. Solve the problem (five minutes).
There are variations. The Disease of the Month Corollary is:
1a. Catch a disease.
2a. Suffer from the disease.
3a. Cure the disease, or die from the disease with dignity.
There are exceptions. There are problem-addressing TV films - such as ''Something About Amelia" and "An Early Frost" - that take place in the real world and shed some light on issues, without insulting ...
