Ball State's Cardinals were ripe Tuesday night. Valparaiso University nearly picked them off.

After a rousing 70-56 victory over Purdue Saturday, the unbeaten Cardinals slipped an emotional decibel or two.

Inspired Valparaiso, taking advantage of the situation, smelled an upset for 33 minutes.
