Brunch for working singles and couples is an easier, more flexible way of entertaining than a dinner party.
To begin with, your guests don't expect as much of you. Second, brunches are easier to prepare.
One possibility for your main course is a deep-dish tart provencale. Most of it can be prepared in advance, assembled an hour before your guests arrive, popped into the oven and retrieved minutes before, giving it time to settle before serving. Serve it with blanched snow peas and carrots cut on the diagonal, then stir-fried to heat at the last moment.
