Three Democratic legislators, claiming the Reagan administration is insensitive to children, urged the Environmental Protection Agency Wednesday to clean up asbestos in the nation's schools. Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., Rep. Jim Florio, D-N.J., and Rep. Tom Luken, D-Ohio, introduced a joint resolution later Wednesday requiring the EPA to speed up grant applications under the Asbestos School Hazard Abatement Act. The accelerated schedule would allow school districts to complete asbestos cleanup projects during the summer recess.
