It was no day to be without a hat.
"I read that 70 percent of your body's heat goes right out the top of your head when you go without a hat on a cold day," The Minnow said.
The Minnow had on a knit Harley-Davidson cap that he removed as he approached the bar stool at the Chatterbox on Broadway in Merrillville and sat down. He ordered a bowl of thick chili and a long-necked bottle of Stroh's beer.
Before she left for the kitchen, he told the waitress to bring diced onions, crushed red peppers and a shaker of Tobasco sauce.
"I need to build a fire in here," The Minnow said, patting his stomach.
