Despite a survey that shows most Hoosiers oppose measured telephone service, legislators on Tuesday recommended passage of a bill that would allow telephone companies to charge customers for local calls during part of a one- year study period. The Senate Commerce Committee amended House Bill 1885 and recommended its passage to the full Senate by a 7-2 vote. The bill passed the Indiana House by a 94-4 vote March 10.
