Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Rick Majerus was named head basketball coach at Ball State University Wednesday, a move he said put him happily in basketball's heartland.
"I couldn't be happier or more proud to be here," Majerus said. "I think within 150 miles of this university, there are unquestionably the best high school coaches in the country."
Two of those coaches, Bill Green of state champion Marion and Sam Alford of New Castle, were among the applicants for the Ball State job. Majerus said he plans to concentrate Cardinal recruiting in the surrounding area.
