Even though Northwest Indiana has the highest automobile insurance rates in the state, there are steps consumers can take to reduce their rates.
The Insurance Information Institute of New York offered these ideas:
Sign up for the largest deductible you can afford. Increasing the deductible from $200 to $500 could cut collision payments on your policy by 20 percent; raising it to $1,000 could cut the payment by 45 percent.
Drive a car that is not as desirable to thieves. Rates for exotic cars such as Corvettes are higher because the parts ...
