Stricter safety precautions are being implemented by a number of Indiana University dormitories as a result of recent attacks on female students. Four assaults have been reported to the IU Police Department since the semester began Aug. 30, officials said.

Sgt. Dave Heckman of the department said there probably has been a higher number of sexual assaults this year than usual, but he added specific numbers were not available.
