The Black Film Center Archive at Indiana University has received a donation of six newsreels that focus on blacks and date to the late 1930s. They were a gift from Walter Eagleson of Indianapolis, a relative of the late Frances Marshall Eagleson. She was the first black woman to graduate from IU, receiving her degree in 1919.

Gloria Gibson, assistant director of the center, said the center expects to have the newsreels for viewing later this month. They currently are being cleaned and scratches on the film are being removed in Hollywood.
