The head of a Ralph Nader-affiliated health group charged Monday that state Medicaid programs are rife with inequities that prevent millions of poor people from getting adequate health care, especially in the South.
The Public Citizen Health Research Group said the federal government should pay the entire cost of the $49.5 billion Medicaid program and set uniform national standards "so that all people with low incomes have an equal right" to treatment.
The activist group released a 257-page report, "Poor Health Care for Poor Americans: A Ranking of State Medicaid Programs," that ranks the states on five categories: ...
