The former president of a Gary firm that misused federal money earmarked for training the unemployed has agreed to cooperate with the government in its investigation of money channeled through the Gary Manpower Administration.
Shirley Montgomery, 48, agreed to cooperate with the government in conjunction with her guilty plea to four counts of misappropriation of federal Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) money. The plea came under terms of an agreement with the U.S. attorney's office last week.
Montgomery is the former president of the Private Industry Council Inc. of Gary.
