Article: NIPSCO coal helps railroad win award

The Chicago SouthShore & South Bend Railroad won CSX's marketing award for having the largest increase in carload growth in 2004. The carrier, which provides rail freight service between Chicago and South Bend, increased its carloads by nearly 11,000, or more than 60 percent, compared to 2003. The company credits its partnership with CSX and a new contract with Northern Indiana Public Service Co. to shuttle cars of coal to NIPSCO's Bailly Generating Station in Michigan City as part of its increase in carloads.
